Dr. Nich Beer, M.D.!

How strange is it that 4 years has already passed, and all the hard work, blood (literally), sweat, and tears has led to this one glorious occasion where the 150 medical students, their faculty, and honored guests, get to gather together in a giant hall and watch our beloved medical-student-family-member walk across the stage in a long black robe draped in cords and colors, wearing an 8-cornered tasseled hat, and get "hooded" (making it all very official) that somehow looks really cool in the building but really goofy as soon as the ceremony's over and it looks like a strange Halloween costume?

It is so surreal seeing my husband graduate from medical school and get hooded by our pediatrician, and realizing he is officially an MD! I am so so so impressed with him, and I don't think he'll ever realize just how proud I am of him! Yes, I'll admit I was trying (rather unsuccessfully) to hold back tears seeing him walk across the stage with that huge smile on his face, and Oliver was happily saying "Daddy" while pointing to Nich the whole time. What a wonderful moment :)

 His graduating class

Here we are on graduation day - Me, Oliver, and Nich's parents, Gammy and "Choopatchoo."

The Three Beers

Last Lubbock Days

We spent our last few days in Lubbock in the park and hanging out with friends. Feeding ducks old bread...Oliver ended up eating a lot of it...

WAIT! Come back!!

As Nich was hand-feeding the geese... those guys got violent after that with their hissing and chasing us around...we had to end their feeding session early and get to the playground.

Playground!

I'm not sure who looks more scared going down this slide...

Break-dancing moves!

And then playing with his best friends, the neighborhood kids after a delicious, cold Sonic slush!

What a great day! We miss our Lubbock life!

Springtime!

Oliver's Mother's Day Out school did a cute little spring show before Easter, and it was adorable! Nich and I were able to go to the church and watch him and his buddies sing and dance to all kinds of kiddie songs. I've always enjoyed seeing little kids perform in front of their parents, but there is something so amazing about seeing your own little baby up there that just brings tears to your eyes! Seeing him so happy, and so BIG, I just imagined him growing up and all I wanted to do was capture this moment, and others like it, and keep him little and mine for as long as possible! These photos DON'T do it justice at ALL, but we do have video of this little show :)

The Program:

Being wheeled down to the sanctuary...

Looking for familiar faces in the audience. For all of our waving, he never saw us!

His sweet dance moves:

And then my whole family (minus Marian in Australia) came into town for Easter! We all dyed eggs and went hunting, but unfortunately several people fell ill, so the eggs were never eaten...but a lot of the chocolate was! My aunt made a DELICIOUS Easter lunch, and got all the necessary solid chocolate Easter bunnies for the occasion.

Here's Oliver with his uncle Sebastian and cuz Eliska...it IS Easter in this picture...ignore the jack-o-lantern.

 The HUNT:

Of course the obligatory egg-on-the-car-tire

With his aunt Liz...do you think the birds really want to eat this egg, or did the Easter bunny put it there?

I wasn't feeling well when little Eliska went hunting, so I don't have pictures of her, but I did get Oliver searching :)
This was our last weekend in our Lubbock house, and hours after these photos were taken, our house was packed into boxes and driven (poorly) to our new house...that's another post though!
